Tracy Blackwood
“ART is my lifeline. Art allows me to express visually stories of my roots, heritage and distinct Newfoundland culture.”
~ Tracy Blackwood
Tracy was born and raised in Wesleyville, Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada. Influenced by the majestic beauty of the island and her deep rooted heritage, Tracy pairs these powerful entities with her visual stories.
Tracy obtained a Fine Arts (Visual) Degree and an Education (Secondary) Degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland and taught in a secondary education environment for over 20 years. Tracy’s speciality is painting and drawing. Her first exhibition was a solo show at The REACH Gallery and Museum in Newfoundland. She was also featured in the final edition of the historic publication, The Newfoundland Herald. In 2024, a digital image of Tracy’s drawing “Whale Song” will be traveling to the Moon as a part of a time capsule project with NASA. Tracy is a member of the District Art Gallery, Kitchener, and the Central Ontario Artist Association, Waterloo, ON.
Tracy Blackwood continues to celebrate and preserve her eastern Canadian culture by telling visual stories through her artwork. Her lyrical landscapes, suites of weathered doors and hand-knit trigger mitts are a joy to behold, crisscrossing time and space of Newfoundland.
