COAA MEMBERS’ GALLERY FEATURING:
Julie Carlisle
Julie Carlisle is a multi-disciplined artist who works in acrylic paint on canvas and mixed media. Julie studied Art at George Brown College in Toronto and Sheridan College of Applied Arts in Brampton, Ontario. Since graduating Julie has been employed as a Graphic Designer, Illustrator and Muralist. Julie has teaches drawing classes, hosted an online sketching blog, and facilitated has art workshops.
Julie finds inspiration in nature where her “plein air” paintings come to life by using paint to draw directly on the canvas in layers. In addition, Julie also paints in a more systematic manner where designing the canvas meticulously produces highly decorative pieces inspired by the Art Nouveau period.
Julie also attends craft fairs selling Zodiac Crafts inspired by her fascination with the cosmos. Julie’s graphic design background motivated these crafts as the images are drawn in Adobe Illustrator and produced digitally. To be conscious of the environment, the final products are affixed to upcycled DVD’s.
