COAA MEMBERS’ GALLERY FEATURING:

Linda J. Trowell OCADU

Born and raised on a farm in Oxford County, Linda has been drawing and painting since early childhood. At an early age she discovered her artistic interests and began to develop her skills. Her first formal training began at the Ontario College of Art (OCADU), Toronto.

After graduating from the 4 year advertising illustration course, Linda enjoyed a lengthy career in advertising and graphic design for some of Canada’s largest retailers, with home offices in Toronto. Maintaining her interests in fine art, she became an active member of various art associations. She enjoyed the success of solo and group shows in public galleries and accepted the opportunity to teach workshops part time. She has developed and instructed unique drawing and painting programs in a variety of media and techniques for all levels.

“During those years while living in Richmond Hill, working in the city, I always remained close to my rural roots, which I believe to this day remain a strong influence in my art. When it came time to retire from the corporate world, it seemed only fitting to return to the Ingersoll area where I continue to paint, exhibit and instruct workshops”.

As a member of Ingersoll Creative Arts Centre, Linda has served on the board receiving the Newell Award for the Centre in 2013 for her contribution as painters’ rep, art rental coordinator and promotions, heading the committee for the new logo design, staffing, and workshop instruction. Linda has served on the executive as membership chair and newsletter editor for the Central Ontario Art Association, and supports many other arts organizations and galleries.

“I have made many friends through my art and teaching, a rewarding creative journey. I hope to continue for a lifetime.”
